California Online Trauma & PTSD Therapist

You are not what’s happened to you.

”Just get over it!”

Trauma happens to other people - right? Are you “weak” or “flawed” if you can’t just leave things in the past, suck it up and move past it? As a trauma survivor and trauma therapist, I know 1000% that it’s not that simple!

When we think of trauma, we think of war veterans, sexual or physical assault/abuse, accidents, shootings and natural disasters. But you can be struggling with the effects of trauma without even knowing where it came from.

Trauma can also come from emotional abuse, bullying, distressing medical experiences, loss of a relationship or loved one/pet - and more (this is not an all-inclusive list!).

And let's not forget global issues such as climate change, COVID, environmental disaster, genocide and war - all of which can have traumatizing effects on our collective psyches.

You may be feeling the effects of trauma if you are experiencing uncomfortable and distressing changes in your mood, thoughts or ability to function after distressing life experience(s), whether they happened recently or long ago - and whether or not you even remember them! See the Trauma/PTSD FAQ below to learn more.
